At S&C Digital Solutions, we tell our contractor clients something all the time: your website is your digital storefront, and if it’s not optimized, you’re leaving money on the table.

So we decided to practice what we preach. We ran a full SEO audit on sandcdigital.com — our own site — and we’re sharing exactly what we found, what we’re fixing, and why transparency matters when you’re in the business of helping other businesses grow online.

This isn’t a theoretical exercise. These are real issues we discovered on our own website — the same kinds of problems we find on contractor sites every single day. And if a digital marketing agency can miss these things on their own site, imagine what’s hiding on yours.

Why We Published This Audit Publicly

Most marketing agencies would never share their own weaknesses. But here’s the thing — we built S&C Digital Solutions on a simple principle: treat every contractor’s business like it’s our own. Our founder Stasiu (Stash) Sliva grew up working with his hands. He’s been in the truck. He’s been on the roof. He understands what it feels like to bust your back all day and then wonder why the phone isn’t ringing.

That background is exactly why we believe in radical transparency. If we expect contractors to trust us with their digital presence, we need to hold ourselves to the same standard. So here’s everything — the good, the bad, and the fixable.

The Critical Issues We Found

Our Schema Markup Had the Wrong Business Name

This one stung. The structured data on our homepage — the code that tells Google who we are — identified us as “Sandclead Digital” with a description that said “A complete solutions to create awesome WordPress websites.” That’s a leftover from an older brand iteration and a theme default that never got updated. Google was reading us as a generic WordPress shop, not a contractor growth partner. We’ve already corrected this to properly identify S&C Digital Solutions with an accurate business description.

Every Single Image Was Missing Alt Text

We checked every image on our homepage and found that all 48 images had zero alt text. That includes our logo, service icons, founder photos, client graphics, and testimonial images. Across the entire site with 21 published pages, that likely means hundreds of images are invisible to Google Image Search and inaccessible to visitors using screen readers. We’re systematically adding descriptive, keyword-relevant alt text to every image on the site.

Our Blog Had Just One Post in Over Two Years

This was the biggest gap between what we do and what we say. We had a single blog article from February 2024 while our YouTube channel has 73 videos covering contractor sales, pricing, follow-up systems, lead generation, client success stories, and more. That means all of Stash’s expertise was locked inside video content that Google couldn’t read or index as text. We’re now systematically converting our best YouTube content into written articles you’ll see right here on the blog.

The High-Priority Issues

Old Brand References Still on the Site

Our previous brand name still appeared on multiple pages including our SEO services page, the Contractor Growth Program page, and in the About section. We’ve already started finding and fixing these references site-wide to ensure consistent branding for both visitors and search engines.

Duplicate Content Blocks Across Pages

The same testimonial blocks and FAQ sections were copied across four or five different pages nearly word-for-word. While showing social proof everywhere is great in theory, having large identical content blocks across pages dilutes their SEO value. We’re creating unique content treatments for each page.

Homepage Was Our Weakest Page

Ironically, our homepage — the most important page on the site — had the lowest optimization score at 71 out of 100, while several internal service pages scored in the 82-86 range. We’re rewriting the homepage headline and meta data to better represent what we actually do for contractors.

What This Means for Contractors

Here’s why we’re telling you all of this: if an agency that does SEO for a living can have these issues on their own website, your contractor website almost certainly has similar or worse problems that you don’t even know about.

The most common issues we find on contractor sites include missing alt text on all images, no blog content or outdated posts, incorrect or missing schema markup, duplicate content across service pages, slow page load times from bloated themes and plugins, and no clear heading structure for search engines to follow.

Every one of these problems is fixable. And every one of them is costing you visibility, leads, and revenue right now.

What We’re Building Next

This audit kicked off a complete content overhaul for our site. We’re converting our top-performing YouTube videos into in-depth blog articles — think contractor sales tips, objection handling guides, lead management systems, and client success stories. We’re building individual case study pages for clients like CTC Construction, Elite Foundations, and others who have seen real, measurable results. We’re creating a Meet the Team page so you know exactly who you’re working with. And we’re developing dedicated resource pages for our Concrete Growth Course, Contractor Sales Toolkit, and other training materials.

We’re not just fixing our own site — we’re building it into the resource hub that contractors deserve.

How This Applies to Your Business

If you’re a contractor reading this and thinking “I wonder what’s wrong with my website,” you’re asking the right question. Most contractors we work with don’t realize their site has technical SEO issues until they see the audit. That’s why we offer site audits as part of our onboarding process for every contractor growth client. We look at everything — your schema markup, image optimization, content gaps, page speed, local SEO signals, and more — and then we build a strategy to fix it all.

And yes, we handle the SEO for all of our clients’ sites too. We create content, optimize pages, and post updates that your team can review before anything goes live. No surprises, no guesswork — just systematic improvements that compound over time.

The Bottom Line

No website is perfect. Not even ours. But the difference between a business that grows and one that stays stuck is whether you identify the problems and actually fix them. That’s what we did here, and that’s what we do for every contractor we work with.

If you want to see what a full SEO audit looks like for your contractor business, reach out to our team. We’ll show you exactly what’s holding your site back — and build the plan to fix it.
